- 2005/04/27 A brush with Dutch artists

The Royal Netherlands Embassy, in collaboration with the Malaysian Dutch Business Council, is organising an exhibition entitled Dutch Brushes featuring 20 paintings of Dutch artists such as Leon Dolle, Gina Gunak, Michiel Hermens, Gerard van den Oetelaar and Marie Francoise van de Panne.

This exhibition is part of the "Window on Holland" promotion held from today until May 8 at Mid Valley Megamall Kuala Lumpur.

Except for van den Oetelaar, a frequent visitor to Malaysia, the other artists live and work in Malaysia. van den Oetelaar, who has worked and exhibited his works in Malacca, has a permanent collection of his works there and in Penang.

The artists are exhibiting four paintings each. The paintings are for sale but each artist has one painting for sale at a silent auction, where proceeds will go to the Holland-Malaysia Foundation.

The main aim of the foundation is to strengthen ties between Malaysia and the Netherlands by providing a platform for knowledge exchange between the two countries.

The exchange is thematic and focused on areas of expertise compatible with both countries such as agriculture, biotechnology, logistics and water management, to name a few.

The "Window on Holland" showcase is on daily from 10am to 10pm (except from May 3-6 , when it is from noon till 8.30pm) at the exhibition centre on the 3rd floor of the shopping mall.
